Birthday Cakes for Co-workers

2 Sep

So these photos are a week over due, but it has been a busy one. Single tickets went on sale at the Schwartz Center this week so I’ve been dead tired every night after work. Now that the students are back, things should return to a normal chaotic pace.

Anyways here are the long over due birthday cake photos. The first one was for one of Dan’s co-workers. It played on an inside joke that they have. They work at the Murray Center and joke that they don’t want to be remembered for this job when they die. So I made a grave marker for Will with the Murray Center logo. I really like doing marbleized fondant and I was very happy with how it turned out.

The second cake was for my co-worker John. He lives on the lake and loves boating and jet skiing. This was my first attempt at using modeling chocolate. Not to toot my own horn, but I was rather impressed with how the jet skiing man figure turned out. I channeled my inner Italian sculptor rather successfully!

This week I’ll be doing two birthday cakes and a thank you cake. Check back by Monday for some more photos and stories! Enjoy the three day weekend everyone. 🙂
